Mahvish Rukhsana Khan, the American daughter of Afghan parents, joined with lawyers seeking for basic constitutional rights for the detainees at Guantanamo Bay prison. Her knowledge of the Pashto language became invaluable, and eventually she found herself working as a translator at the infamous prison. Her stories of the outrageous treatment of Afghans and the shameful and illegal behavior of the Bush administration, are searing and unforgettable.
